Manatee Clerk & Comptroller names new Chief Deputy of Finance

Neil Unruh has been named as the Chief Deputy of Finance for the Office of Angelina “Angel” Colonneso, Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller for Manatee County.

In this role, Unruh is responsible for effectively and efficiently operating all finance divisions in the Clerk’s Finance department.

He brings with him an abundance of financial experience. Before joining the Clerk’s office, Unruh was the Comptroller for the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office for seven years. Before that, an audit partner for Shinn & Company, now known as Carr, Riggs & Ingram, CPAs and Advisors.

From Kansas, he holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a focus in accounting from Wichita State University. He is a certified public accountant (CPA) and a member of several accounting associations, including the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FICPA) and the Florida Government Finance Officers Association (FGFOA). Additionally,

Unruh is an active member of the community and serves in various associations. Currently, Unruh is the 2022-2023 Bradenton Kiwanis President.

The Clerk’s Finance department is responsible for carrying out the Clerk’s duties as the chief financial officer and comptroller for the Board of County Commissioners and Port Authority. Services include accounting services, accounts payable, and payroll, to name a few.

In addition to Unruh, the Clerk’s Finance department leadership team includes Director of Finance Kim Wilder and Deputy Director of Finance Vicki Ayles.
