Manatee County Clerk of the Court Cancels Teen Court Attorney Training Until 2021
Every year, the Manatee County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller’s Office looks forward to training local teenagers to participate in our Teen Court program. Given the concerns around COVID-19, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel the upcoming October Teen Court Attorney Training session. This was a tough decision to make. But, we need to prioritize the health and safety of our staff, local judges and attorneys, teenagers and volunteers.
The training helps interested teens, ages 12 – 17, to serve as an attorney for Manatee County’s Teen Court and Teen Court Too, diversionary programs designed to stop youthful delinquent behavior before a pattern is established. Manatee County’s Teen Court and Teen Court Too allows first-time juvenile offenders, ages 10 – 17, a second chance while holding them accountable for their actions. Cases are heard before a jury of their peers and sanctions are assigned for the defendant to complete.
New training date(s) will be announced at a later time. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the program’s coordinator below.
